Dr. Sabrina J. Curtis

Sabrina J. Curtis, PhD is Assistant Professor in the Youth and Social Innovation Program in the School of Education and Human Development at the University of Virginia. Her teaching, research, and community-facing work centers on youth civic engagement and sociopolitical development, gender equity in education, Black feminist pedagogies, and the politics of Black girl girlhood.

Dr. Ishmael Miller

Ishmael Miller, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Division for Advancing Education Policy, Practice, and Leadership at Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton College of Teaching and Learning Innovation. Dr. Miller’s research investigates PK–12 school systems and community-based education spaces to understand how systemic inequities emerge and are addressed through leadership practices and policy. Dr. Miller's work has received notable recognition, including the 2023 Practitioner of Distinction Award from the University of Mississippi School of Education, the 2023 Dissertation of the Year Award from the American Educational Research Association's Leadership for Social Justice SIG, and the 2020 Emerging Scholar Award from the American Educational Research Association's Out of School Time SIG.

Dr. Charmaine Davis-Grant

Dr. Charmaine Davis-Grant is an equity-driven education leader and improvement-science scholar specializing in Out-of-School Time (OST) programs. She holds an Ed.D. in Out-of-School Learning from the University of Pittsburgh, where her research explored empowering practices for Black high school students in Ohio’s 21st CCLC programs.
As Case Management Coordinator at the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce, Dr. Davis-Grant supports 22+ high-priority districts, leveraging OST to advance student success and family engagement. A former 21st CCLC Education Program Specialist and national White-Riley-Peterson Policy Fellow, her work bridges research, policy, and practice to improve OST equity statewide.
Civically, Dr. Davis-Grant also serves as President & CEO of the Sigma Public Education and Research (SPEAR) Foundation, leading national OST initiatives that empower women and youth of color.

Dr. Tanya Wiggins

Tanya Wiggins, EdD has nearly 30 years of experience as an educator and currently serves as an associate professor in the School of Education at Pace University in New York. She bridges research and practice by exploring the triumphs and challenges of community-based youth organizations as educational spaces. She is a contributing author to the Current Issues in Out-of-School-Time book series.

Dr. Laura Peña-Telfer

Dr. Laura Peña-Telfer is a cisgender Afro-Latina science educator, youth worker, scholar, and daughter of immigrants. Her work is rooted in a commitment to creating affirming STEM spaces for Black and Latina girls by honoring their cultural identities, amplifying community knowledge, and reimagining science education as a space of love, justice, and belonging.

Dr. Miranda Allen is a STEM educator and researcher dedicated to advancing youth in STEM. Drawing from her experience as a classroom teacher, her work centers identity, belonging, and voice in STEM learning spaces. She is committed to reimagining STEM education in ways that are humanizing, affirming, and community-driven.
